Vitamins and Healthy Skin

Nutrition and great skin are related in more ways than we know and some of the nutrients that play an essential part in your complexion are the various vitamins. This is why many skin care products that we buy has high amount of these vitamins and minerals. Therefore it is extremely important that we consume these vitamins through the foods we take. Here are some of the essential vitamins for great skin and how to incorporate them into your diet.

1. Vitamin A

If our skin is scaly and dry, it can be due to lack of Vitamin A. People who are suffering from acne are also encouraged to take plenty of Vitamin A or apply products that has vitamin A derivatives. Since Vitamin A also helps the skin rebuild tissues, it is also an essential vitamin when it comes to healing scrapes, wounds and other damages to the skin. Patients who suffer from the skin disease psoriasis are often advised to apply retinoids (a form of Vitamin A) to regulate cellular growth. Vitamin A is also a great anti-aging nutrient. So if you wish to keep lines, wrinkles, dull skin and other skin aging symptoms at bay then Vitamin A may can be of great help. Good sources of Vitamin A include eggs, leafy greens, milk, carrots, pumpkins, liver and more.

2. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the component of healthy skin. This is because Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps fight free radicals in our body. Free radicals are often generated from the habit of smoking, pollution and sun exposure. Free radicals are one of the major causes of premature skin aging. As a result, Vitamin E can be an important anti-aging nutrient. Appearance of age spots, wrinkles, stretch marks and lines are reduced by applying Vitamin-E rich products. Vitamin E can also be found in foods like olives, sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds, wheat germ and leafy greens.

3. Vitamin C

Similar to Vitamin E, Vitamin C is also an effective antioxidant. It helps you battle the signs of skin aging. Vitamin C also stimulates the production of collagen in our skin. Collagen is the protein responsible for making our skin tight and healthy.  Most fruits are good sources of Vitamin C so try to make fruits a staple addition to your everyday diet. Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, brussel sprouts and cucumber are also good sources of this vitamin.

What is sugar glider?

The Sugar Glider

The sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps) is a small, omnivorous, arboreal gliding possum belonging to the marsupial infraclass. The common name refers to its preference for sugary nectarous foods and ability to glide through the air, much like a flying squirrel
Around the world, the sugar glider is popular as an exotic pet. Sugar gliders make endearing, playful, and entertaining pets. As mentioned above they are very social, and ideally they should be kept in pairs or groups, and in any case they should have a good deal of social interaction with their owners. They are fairly clean and do not have complex housing requirements. In addition, they tend to be fairly healthy (although it may be difficult to find an experienced vet to treat them) and can live to be 12-14 years in captivity. They do need a good amount of interaction (even if it is just riding around in a pocket all day), and aren't great housetraining candidates. Their nails are sharp and will scratch if they need to dig in while climbing or landing on you (keep them well trimmed). They also have sharp teeth and though not aggressive, will bite if they feel threatened or frightened. If not acquired tame and used to being handled, it may take a great deal of time and patience to get them to the point where they are cuddly.
If a sugar glider is not tame when acquired, time, patience, and gentle frequent training sessions will eventually allow bonding of the glider to its owner. Gliders adore being near their owners, inside a shirt (hint wear two shirts and let the glider hang out between them, or else their claws will tickle or scratch!) or in a pocket. They will be lovely companions, who view you as an equal. Sugar gliders do not respond at all to punishment or domination, so treat them with respect, gentleness and understanding, and you will be rewarded with a devoted companion!

Is KFC good for you?

First of all lets calculate the calories content of EXTRA CRISPY AND SPICY CHICKEN

For anyone planning to have KFC for tonight, if you order Dinner plate, you will be consuming around 1800 Calories per serving.

how much is 1800 Calories? To burn this much of calories u have to run for around 5 hours or roughly 29km. But wat do we do after eating this?? Of course we will jump to bed and sleep. It is DINNER plate afterall. ALL THE UNUSED FATS AND CALORIES WILL BE STORED IN THE BODY WHEN WE SLEEP.

So, how do we eat intelligently? We must avoid taking coleslow and mashed potatoes, then remove all the fats from the chicken, and order or bring along plain water. By doing this, you can amazingly reduce the calories from 1800 Cal to mere 300+ Cal. Which is more healthy and not heavy to your body.
Calorie requirement for 23 years old female is roughly around 1700 calories. 1 MEAL OF THIS ALREADY FULFILLS MY DAILY CALORIE REQUIREMENT.
HEALTH is WEALTH.

A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop. The surgeon was there, waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike. The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?"
The surgeon a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get such a small salary and you get the really big bucks, when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic...
"Try doing it with the engine running."

Jim and Mary were both patients in a Mental Hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom and stayed there. Mary promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out.
When the medical director became aware of Mary's heroic act he immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital as he now considered her to be mentally stable. When he went to tell Mary the news he said, "Mary, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged because since you were able to jump in and save the life of another patient, I think you've regained your senses. The bad news is Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself with his bathrobe belt in the bathroom. I am so sorry, but he's dead."

Mary replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry."

Most of us associate dieting with skipping of meals. this is actually will cause our body to increase the body fat as the body is thinking that we are currently under starvation and extra fat and carbohydrate will be stored in the body in order to endure the next skipped meal.

Therefore, the best way to diet is by eating at regular time interval and by consuming small amount of food at one time. we should also exercise regularly to increase body metabolisme and increase the burning rate of the fat.

Whenever we are going to eat, we should fill our plate based on following picture.

HPV vaccination

HPV, also known as Human Papilloma Virus, is a virus that can be transmitted through surface contact or sexual. HPV vaccination is given to both male and female to prevent HPV caused diseases such as warts and cervical cancer.

Most people with HPV usually never develop symptoms or health problems. Most HPV infections (90%) go away by themselves within two years. But, sometimes, HPV infections will persist and can cause a variety of serious health problems. Health problems that can be caused by HPV includes genital warts, cervical cancer and genital cancers (cancer of the vulva, vagina, penis, or anus).

The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types of HPV that can cause cancers.

HPV vaccines are recommended for 11- or 12-year-old boys and girls. HPV vaccines are safe and effective, and can protect males and females against some of the most common types of HPV that can lead to disease and cancer. HPV vaccines are given in three shots over six months; it is important to get all three doses to get the best protection. Boys and girls at ages 11 or 12 are most likely to have the best protection provided by HPV vaccines, and their immune response to vaccine is better than older women and men.
By giving the vaccine earlier, the complications of genital warts and cervical cancer can be prevented.

What is Fibroid?

A uterine fibroid is a common type of benign (non-cancerous) tumor that develops within the uterine wall. Uterine fibroids occur in up to one third of all women and are the leading reason for hysterectomy (removal of the uterus). The exact reasons why some women develop fibroids are unknown. Fibroids tend to run in families, and affected women often have a family history of fibroids. One in five women older than 35 years has a uterine fibroid.

Since oestrogen helps in their growth so their growth is seen during 15 to 45 years of women life, as during this time only the oestrogen is secreted in body. So fatty women have more chances of getting fibroids as they have more oestrogen. In 1% of cases the fibroid can transform to become malignant which is known as leiomyosarcoma.

There are many types of fibroids. Among them are subserosal, submucosal, intramural and pedunculated fibroid as shown in image below.

Special attention must be given to fibroid arising from submucosa area as it can cause severe symptoms such as excessive menstrual bleeding and infertility which can affect a person's life.

The diagnosis of fibroid usually made after doing the ultrasound scan of the uterus to visualize the uterus and by measuring the size of the fibroids. Large fibroids, or fibroid which is symptomatic has to be removed via surgery.

Hesitancy of searching for medical attention, and delay in diagnosis will result in extremely large fibroid which will make the surgery difficult, or worse, requires removal of the whole uterus.

In conclusion, we must be alert of the changes in our menstruation. Any mass or unusual pain should alert us to seek for medical attention without any delay.
